A Private Flipnote can only be viewed by you while you are signed in to your RexiMemo account.
Private Flipnotes do not appear in normal discovery, other users cannot open them, and they are kept separately from your public Flipnotes.
Use Private when you want to keep a Flipnote on RexiMemo without sharing it with anyone else.
What Private means
When a Flipnote is Private:
- only you can view it
- it does not appear in normal public browsing
- it does not appear with your public Flipnotes
- direct links do not make it available to other users
- you can find it from the Private section of your own Creator's Room
Private is different from Unlisted.
Private: only you can view it.
Unlisted: anyone with the direct link can view it.
Creating a Private Flipnote on the website
Sign in to RexiMemo and open Upload a Flipnote.
Under the visibility setting, choose Private.
Prepare the rest of the upload as normal, including things such as:
- title
- description
- Channel
- visibility
When you are ready, turn on the waiting mode on the Upload page.
While RexiMemo is waiting:
- Open Flipnote Studio on your DSi.
- Open your RexiMemo Creator's Room.
- Choose Post.
- Select the Flipnote you want to send.
RexiMemo will receive the Flipnote and save it using the Private visibility you selected.
Posting directly to Private Flips from DSi
You can also post a Private Flipnote directly from your DSi.
Open your own Creator's Room and choose Private Flips.
This opens your Private Flipnote library using the normal Flipnote browsing interface.
Choose Post to send a Flipnote directly into that section.
This is useful when you already know you want the Flipnote to be Private and do not need to prepare the upload on the website first.
Finding your Private Flipnotes
On the website, open your own Creator's Room and choose the Private tab.
On DSi, open your own Creator's Room and choose Private Flips.
These sections are only available to you for your own account.
Other users cannot browse your Private Flipnotes.
Can someone open a Private Flipnote with its link?
No.
A direct link does not make a Private Flipnote available to other users.
Private Flipnotes are restricted to the owner account.
If you want to share a Flipnote with somebody without making it public, use Unlisted instead.
Can Private Flipnotes appear in discovery?
No.
Private Flipnotes are kept out of normal RexiMemo browsing and discovery.
They do not appear as normal public uploads on your Creator's Room.
Changing a Flipnote to Private
If you change one of your existing Flipnotes to Private, it stops being available to other users and is moved into your Private library.
You can later change its visibility again if you want to make it Public or Unlisted.
Can a Private Flipnote be a Premiere?
No.
A Premiere is intended to become publicly available at its scheduled release time, while a Private Flipnote is owner-only.
If a Flipnote has an upcoming Premiere, cancel that Premiere before changing it to Private.
Uploading from the Website
RexiMemo also lets you prepare a Flipnote upload from the website.
This does not replace normal DSi uploading. You can still post Flipnotes from Flipnote Studio as usual.
The website upload option simply gives you access to additional publishing controls before sending the Flipnote, such as its title, description, visibility and Premiere settings.
Because Flipnotes still come from Flipnote Studio, uploading from the website requires your DSi.
To use it:
- Open Upload a Flipnote on reximemo.net.
- Choose your publishing settings.
- Turn on the waiting mode.
- Open your RexiMemo Creator's Room in Flipnote Studio.
- Choose Post and send the Flipnote.
RexiMemo then matches the Flipnote sent from your DSi with the upload you prepared on the website.
You can continue using the normal DSi posting options whenever you do not need the website's additional publishing controls.
What if the Flipnote already exists?
If the Flipnote is already active on RexiMemo, it cannot be uploaded again as another copy.
When using the website upload flow, RexiMemo will tell you:
This Flipnote already exists on RexiMemo.
If the Flipnote previously existed but was deleted, uploading it again restores it as Public rather than Private.
You can change its visibility afterward if needed.
When should I use Private?
Private is useful for:
- keeping a Flipnote on RexiMemo without publishing it
- storing something you are not ready to share
- testing how a Flipnote behaves on RexiMemo
- keeping a personal Flipnote accessible from your own account
If you want other people to be able to view the Flipnote with a link, use Unlisted instead.
In short
Private: only you can view it.
Unlisted: anyone with the direct link can view it.
Public: visible normally around RexiMemo.
