RexiMemo can recover some Flipnotes that were previously available through the original Flipnote Hatena service. Recovery uses surviving archived Flipnote data from the old service; it does not reconnect to the original Hatena servers.
Not every Flipnote Hatena account or Flipnote was preserved. If RexiMemo cannot currently find one of your old Flipnotes, that does not necessarily mean the Flipnote never existed.
What can be recovered?
When surviving archive data is available, RexiMemo can recover the Flipnote itself and prepare it as a DSi-compatible Flipnote Studio file. RexiMemo keeps the original creator identity and the Flipnote content that survives in the archived file.
Recovered Flipnotes are clearly marked as coming from original Flipnote Hatena. On the website they are placed in the Recovered from Flipnote Hatena channel. On DSi, the same channel is shown as Recovered from Hatena under Other Channels.
Recovered Hatena Flipnotes are archival posts, so they do not appear in RexiMemo's global Browse or recent-upload feeds. In a Creator's Room they appear after that creator's normal Flipnotes.
What is not restored?
Recovery does not recreate the original Flipnote Hatena account or the old service around it. Original Hatena stars, comments and other service activity are not restored to the recovered RexiMemo copy.
The archive may also be missing particular Flipnotes, thumbnails or other data. RexiMemo can only offer items it can currently locate and successfully recover.
Can recovered Flipnotes be edited?
Flipnotes recovered from original Flipnote Hatena stay locked. They cannot normally be opened for editing. A recovered Flipnote can only be opened in the Flipnote Editor by an account that has that Flipnote's creator FSID linked.
How do I recover my old Flipnotes?
Recovery is requested through RexiMemo's Hatena migration tool in web Settings. You enter the FSID from the original DSi account, review the surviving archived Flipnotes RexiMemo can locate, choose the ones you want, and submit the request.
