Customising your Creator's Room

Change your bio, profile picture and Creator's Room theme, or make and submit your own DSi-compatible theme with Theme Creator.

Your Creator's Room is your public home on RexiMemo. You can change the information people see about you, choose how your profile picture works, and select a theme for your DSi Creator's Room. You can also use Theme Creator to make and submit your own theme.

Looking for the quickest way to customise your room?

Open Settings → Profile. That is where you can change your bio, profile picture and currently selected DSi Creator's Room theme.

What can I customise?

Your Creator's Room appearance is made up of a few separate parts:

  • Bio — the text shown on your RexiMemo Creator's Room.
  • Profile picture — normally taken from one of your Flipnotes, or automatically from your latest suitable Flipnote.
  • Creator's Room theme — changes the appearance of your room in Flipnote Studio on DSi/3DS and can also provide the desktop banner used on your RexiMemo web Creator's Room.
  • Custom themes — signed-in users can make their own compatible theme with Theme Creator and submit it for moderator approval.

Changing your bio

  1. Open Settings → Profile.
  2. Enter or update the text in Bio.
  3. Select Save profile.

Your bio appears on your web Creator's Room. Longer bios are shortened on the main page with a Read more option so the profile stays easy to browse.

Changing your profile picture

In Settings → Profile, use the Profile picture menu to choose how your avatar is selected.

  • Automatic (latest Flipnote) lets RexiMemo choose your current Flipnote-based profile picture automatically.
  • You can select one of your own Flipnotes to keep that Flipnote as your profile picture.
  • If you have an approved Supporter+ custom image, you can keep using that image from the same menu.

Active Supporter+ members can also upload a separate custom image from the Supporter+ custom profile picture section on the Profile settings page. Custom images are converted to a safe PNG and must be approved by a moderator before they appear publicly.

For more information about profile pictures, see Changing your profile picture.

Choosing a published Creator's Room theme

RexiMemo has a list of approved Creator's Room themes that can be selected from your Profile settings.

  1. Open Settings → Profile.
  2. Open the DSi Creator's Room theme menu.
  3. Choose the theme you want.
  4. Select Save profile.

The selected theme controls the compatible Creator's Room styling shown through Flipnote Studio. If that theme includes a desktop banner, the same theme also adds its Creator's Room banner to your web profile.

Only published themes appear in the normal theme picker.

A theme you are still working on in Theme Creator remains a private draft until you submit it and it is approved.

Creating your own theme

Theme Creator is available to signed-in RexiMemo users from the Apps menu, or directly at Theme Creator.

It converts your artwork into the formats needed by the DSi Creator's Room while giving you a live preview of the result.

1. Choose a creator mode

Theme Creator has three modes:

  • Basic — uses RexiMemo's stock-compatible stylesheet. You choose one accent colour and provide the required artwork. This is the simplest option.
  • Advanced — keeps the visual editor but adds separate DSi-safe colour controls and extra image options. You do not need to write CSS.
  • Expert — includes the Advanced controls plus a full DSi-safe CSS editor for people who want finer control.

If you are not sure which one to use, start with Basic. You can make a complete Creator's Room theme without writing any code.

2. Add the theme details

Every theme needs:

  • a Theme name;
  • an Accent colour;
  • a short public Description;
  • a Theme icon;
  • the required Creator's Room artwork.

You can also add private Notes for staff if there is something moderators should know about your artwork or how the theme was made. These notes are not shown publicly.

3. Add and crop your artwork

Theme Creator lets you upload normal image files, then drag and zoom them into the exact DSi-compatible sizes. The main artwork includes:

  • Upper-screen background — 256×192;
  • Posted Flipnotes button — 218×32;
  • Desktop Banner — 1280×118 for the web Creator's Room;
  • Profile header — 218×12;
  • Profile footer — 218×5.

In Basic mode, the profile header and footer are required. In Advanced and Expert, they are optional, and you can also add optional 216×76 profile-card artwork behind your Creator's Room profile details.

4. Follow the approval text rules

Some wording has to remain visible so the theme is still understandable and usable in Flipnote Studio:

  • The upper-screen artwork must visibly include Creator's Room in readable English.
  • The Desktop Banner must visibly include Creator's Room in readable English.
  • The Posted Flipnotes button must visibly include Posted Flipnotes.

Unreadable or missing required text can prevent a theme from being approved.

5. Save a draft and preview it

Select Save draft when all required artwork is ready. RexiMemo keeps one private working draft for your account.

Saving a draft lets you preview the generated theme before submitting it. Theme Creator also shows a live Creator's Room preview in the browser while you work.

A draft is not public.

Saving is for testing and continuing your work later. Use Submit for approval only when you are happy with the result.

6. Submit it for approval

When the theme is ready, choose Submit for approval. It then appears in your Theme Creator submission history while a moderator reviews it.

Your submission can show a moderator note if staff need to explain a decision or ask for a change. A pending submission can also be moved back into your draft slot with Edit again, as long as you do not already have another draft occupying that slot.

Once approved, the theme is published into RexiMemo's normal Creator's Room theme list and can be selected from Settings → Profile.

Advanced and Expert styling

Advanced mode provides separate controls for things such as page text, profile background, profile text, secondary lines, outlines and links. These controls are limited to styles that can be represented safely on the DSi.

Expert mode adds a CSS editor, but it is deliberately restricted to the selectors and properties supported by RexiMemo's DSi compatibility rules. Unsupported CSS is highlighted in bright red and cannot be saved.

This means normal modern web CSS features such as arbitrary positioning, transforms, imports, media queries and unsupported selectors cannot simply be copied into a DSi Creator's Room theme.

What changes on web and what changes on DSi?

Your RexiMemo account is shared between the website and Flipnote Studio, but the two displays are not identical.

  • Your bio is part of your web Creator's Room.
  • Your profile picture is used as your RexiMemo identity and is also incorporated where supported in the DSi Creator's Room.
  • Your selected Creator's Room theme controls the DSi-compatible room styling.
  • An approved theme's Desktop Banner is shown on the web Creator's Room when that theme is selected.

Common questions

Why can't I see my new theme in Settings?

Only approved, published themes appear in the normal DSi Creator's Room theme selector. A saved draft or a theme still waiting for moderation will not appear there yet.

Can I make a theme without CSS?

Yes. Basic and Advanced modes do not require CSS. Expert is only needed if you want to work directly with RexiMemo's supported DSi-safe stylesheet rules.

Can I use any image size?

You can upload ordinary images and use Theme Creator's cropper to position them, but the final generated assets use fixed dimensions required by the Creator's Room. Very small source images may look blurry when enlarged.

Why can't I use pure white as the accent colour?

Theme Creator reserves pure white as an unsupported accent choice. Pick a slightly darker or tinted colour instead.

Can I edit a theme after submitting it?

If a submission is still pending and your draft slot is empty, the Edit again option moves it back into your private draft so you can make changes and resubmit it.

Do my theme changes affect my Flipnotes?

No. Creator's Room customisation changes your profile and room appearance. It does not modify the PPM files you have uploaded.
