A Flipnote Premiere lets you prepare a new Flipnote in advance and choose when it should become public on RexiMemo.
Instead of the Flipnote appearing as soon as it reaches RexiMemo, the upload is held until the premiere time you selected. When that time arrives, RexiMemo releases it publicly as its first publication.
Premieres are useful when you want to announce a Flipnote ahead of time, coordinate a release with other people, or simply prepare something now and have it appear later.
How Premieres work
A Premiere is set up before the Flipnote is published.
You prepare the Flipnote from the RexiMemo website, choose its publishing details and premiere time, then send the actual Flipnote from Flipnote Studio on your DSi.
Until the scheduled time arrives, the Flipnote is not treated as a normally published public Flipnote. At the premiere time, RexiMemo releases it automatically.
Because a Premiere is intended to control a Flipnote's first public release, an already-published Flipnote cannot later be turned into a new Premiere.
Creating a Premiere
Sign in to RexiMemo and open Upload a Flipnote.
Prepare the upload as normal. You can set things such as:
- the Flipnote title
- description
- Channel
- visibility
- premiere date and time
Choose the date and time when you want the Flipnote to be released.
When everything is ready, use the waiting control on the Upload page so RexiMemo is ready to receive the Flipnote from your DSi.
The waiting period lasts for 3 minutes. A countdown is shown while it is active.
While RexiMemo is waiting:
- Open Flipnote Studio on your DSi.
- Open your RexiMemo Creator's Room.
- Choose Post.
- Select the Flipnote you want to send.
RexiMemo will receive the Flipnote and attach it to the publishing details you prepared on the website.
If the waiting period expires before you send the Flipnote, turn it on again and retry.
Why the website is required
Premiere scheduling is handled by the RexiMemo website because the original Flipnote Studio posting interface does not contain controls for choosing a future release date and time.
The website stores the publishing instructions, while the actual PPM still comes from Flipnote Studio on your DSi.
This means you get RexiMemo's newer publishing options without needing to upload a PPM file directly through your browser.
Uploading from your DSi
Normal DSi uploads now have a few different paths.
If you want to publish a normal Flipnote directly from your DSi, open the Channel you want and use its Post button.
If you want to create a Premiere, prepare the upload on reximemo.net first. Once the website is waiting, the Post button in your Creator's Room becomes available for sending that Flipnote into the prepared web upload.
You can also post directly to your Unlisted Flips or Private Flips sections from your own Creator's Room when you want to use those visibility modes without a Premiere.
What happens at the premiere time
Once the scheduled date and time is reached, RexiMemo publishes the Flipnote automatically.
Its public release begins at that point rather than at the time the PPM was originally received from your DSi.
This is important because the premiere time represents the Flipnote's actual first publication on RexiMemo.
Managing upcoming Premieres
You can view your scheduled Flipnotes from the Premieres page.
Use this page to keep track of Flipnotes that have already been prepared but have not reached their release time yet.
If you have several upcoming releases, check the scheduled time carefully so you know which Flipnote will appear next.
Can I Premiere a Flipnote that is already public?
No.
A Premiere controls the first release of a Flipnote. Once a Flipnote has already been published normally, its first release has already happened.
If you want to use Premieres, set the Premiere before sending and publishing the new Flipnote.
Can I create a Premiere entirely from the DSi?
No.
The DSi sends the actual Flipnote, but the Premiere date, time and other web publishing options must be prepared on RexiMemo first.
Start on the Upload a Flipnote page, enable waiting, then send the Flipnote using Post in your Creator's Room.
What if the three-minute timer expires?
Nothing is published automatically just because the waiting timer expires.
The waiting state simply turns off. Turn it back on from the Upload page, then try sending the Flipnote from your DSi again.
Waiting also turns off if you disable it yourself or leave the Upload page.
What if I send the wrong Flipnote?
Check which Flipnote you have selected in Flipnote Studio before choosing Post.
The next Flipnote sent through your Creator's Room while the website is actively waiting is the Flipnote RexiMemo will associate with the prepared upload.
If you are no longer ready to send it, turn waiting off before posting anything.
What if the Flipnote already exists on RexiMemo?
If the Flipnote is already present on RexiMemo, the website will tell you that the Flipnote already exists instead of creating another copy.
If the same Flipnote previously existed but was deleted, uploading it again restores that Flipnote and makes it public again rather than creating a completely separate duplicate.
Premiere checklist
Before sending the Flipnote from your DSi, check that:
- the title and description are correct
- the correct Channel is selected
- the visibility is what you want
- the premiere date and time are correct
- the website is currently showing that it is waiting for your DSi
- you are sending the correct Flipnote in Flipnote Studio
Once those are correct, choose Post from your Creator's Room and RexiMemo will take care of the scheduled release.
