Song Finder can identify music used in a Flipnote and show the detected Track Title and Track Artist alongside the Flipnote. RexiMemo uses Shazam as the music-recognition source.
Song Finder compares audio from the Flipnote with Shazam's recognition service. A result can be missing or incorrect when the music is very short, quiet, distorted, heavily edited, covered by voices or sound effects, sped up or slowed down, or not present in Shazam's catalogue.
Where Song Finder appears
When RexiMemo has music information for a Flipnote, the website can show the track title and artist on that Flipnote's details. On Flipnote Studio, supported users can also see Track Title and Track Artist on the Flipnote details screen above the view count.
If no confident match is available, RexiMemo simply leaves the music information blank. A blank result does not mean that the Flipnote contains no music; it only means Song Finder does not currently have a published match for it.
What happens when I upload a Flipnote?
RexiMemo can check a newly uploaded Flipnote for music after the upload is accepted. The upload itself does not need to wait for Shazam to finish. When recognition succeeds, the detected title and artist can be attached to the Flipnote automatically.
On the desktop upload page, signed-in users can also provide a Track Title and Track Artist themselves. Enter both fields together. Leaving both blank allows automatic recognition to supply the information if it finds a confident match.
Can I correct a wrong result?
Yes. If you are the Flipnote's owner, open the Flipnote on the RexiMemo website and use the music-information controls to edit the Track Title and Track Artist. This is useful when Shazam identifies the wrong recording, an alternate version, a remix, or the right song with incomplete metadata.
You can also remove the published music information by clearing both fields. RexiMemo treats that as an intentional owner correction, so automatic recognition will not immediately put the removed match back.
What information is sent to Shazam?
Song Finder creates the audio needed for recognition from the Flipnote and submits an audio excerpt to Shazam's recognition service. RexiMemo uses the returned recognition result to obtain the track title and artist. The temporary recognition audio is not intended to become a public download or a permanent copy of the Flipnote's soundtrack.
Shazam is a third-party music-recognition service. Its catalogue and recognition behaviour are outside RexiMemo's control, so availability and results can change independently of RexiMemo.
Why might the result differ from what I expect?
- The Flipnote may use a cover, remix, live recording, edit or mash-up.
- The recognised portion may be too short or may start in the middle of a song.
- Flipnote sound effects, microphone audio or voices may interfere with recognition.
- The audio may have been pitch-shifted, sped up, slowed down or heavily compressed.
- Shazam may return a different release of the same track, or may not have the recording in its catalogue.
Does Song Finder change my Flipnote title?
No. Track Title is separate from the Flipnote's own title. Song Finder only stores music metadata for the Flipnote; it does not rename the Flipnote or rewrite its description.
Who can see Song Finder information?
Song Finder follows RexiMemo's normal feature availability and Flipnote visibility rules. Music information does not make a private or otherwise restricted Flipnote public. If a Flipnote itself is unavailable to a viewer, Song Finder does not provide a separate way to access it.
If you own a Flipnote and believe its music information is wrong, correct or remove it from the website rather than changing the Flipnote's title to work around the recognition result.
