Uploading Flipnotes from melonDS

How full Flipnote uploads from melonDS work, what changes on the posted copy, and what is not supported.

Emulator uploads are now allowed on RexiMemo!

RexiMemo supports posting full Flipnotes from melonDS through the normal Flipnote Studio posting screens. This is intended for people who use melonDS alongside a real compatible console linked to their RexiMemo account.

What is supported?

  • melonDS only. Other emulators are not permitted to connect to the RexiMemo DSi service.
  • Full Flipnotes only. You can post ordinary unlocked Flipnotes to channels, private/unlisted publishing flows, and website-prepared uploads that are waiting for Flipnote Studio.
  • A real Primary Console is required. Your RexiMemo account must already have a Primary Console linked from real compatible hardware before an emulator session can upload.

Creator name and FSID

When a Flipnote is posted from melonDS, the posted copy uses your current RexiMemo username as its creator name and your real Primary Console FSID as its creator FSID. RexiMemo does not use an emulator-generated creator identity for the posted copy.

The Flipnote's original creator name and original creator FSID are kept as spin-off attribution. This means the posted copy identifies your RexiMemo account as the current creator while retaining the source Flipnote's original creator information.

Why does RexiMemo do this?

Emulator sessions do not count as a real RexiMemo console identity. Using the account's real Primary Console keeps creator attribution tied to a verified console identity while preserving the original creator information as the Flipnote's spin-off lineage.

Locked Flipnotes are not accepted

A Flipnote with its edit lock enabled cannot be uploaded from melonDS. RexiMemo rejects it before publication. If you are the creator and need to post it from an emulator, use an unlocked copy that you are permitted to edit and upload.

Mini Flipnotes are still disabled on emulator sessions

This change applies only to normal full Flipnote uploads. Mini Flipnote comments cannot be uploaded from melonDS. If you want to leave a memo-style Flipnote comment, use a real compatible console.

How to upload from melonDS

  1. Make sure your RexiMemo account already has a real Primary Console linked.
  2. Sign in to RexiMemo from melonDS.
  3. Open the normal Post flow in a Channel, your Creator's Room, or a website-prepared upload that is waiting for Flipnote Studio.
  4. Select an unlocked Flipnote.
  5. Post it normally. RexiMemo will attach the upload to your account and Primary Console identity while retaining the original creator information.

How emulator uploads are shown

RexiMemo records that the Flipnote was uploaded from an emulator. On supported web and DSi Flipnote details pages, viewers are shown a notice saying that the Flipnote was uploaded from an emulator. The normal spin-off attribution can also appear when the original Flipnote information differs from the posted creator information.

Sudomemo

Emulator-posted Flipnotes are not allowed on Sudomemo. Do not save an emulator-uploaded Flipnote from RexiMemo and repost it to Sudomemo. RexiMemo allowing these uploads does not change another service's rules.

Other rules still apply

Uploading from melonDS does not bypass RexiMemo's normal content, ownership, copyright, moderation, age-restriction, or account rules. You are still responsible for having permission to upload the Flipnote and any material it contains.
