Flipnote collaborations let the original creator invite one other RexiMemo user to be credited as a collaborator on a Flipnote. A Flipnote can have one invited collaborator at a time, so an accepted collaboration has at most two credited creators.
Adding a collaborator
Sign in on the RexiMemo website and open one of your own Flipnotes. Choose Add Collaborator where the Report action would normally appear, search for the RexiMemo user you worked with, select them, and send the invitation.
The invited creator receives a collaboration notification on both the website and DSi. The notification includes a direct way to open the Flipnote so they can view it before deciding whether to accept or decline the request.
What changes after they accept?
On DSi, the Flipnote details change from Creator to Creators and show both usernames separated by an ampersand. On the website, the collaborator appears underneath the original creator with their profile picture and username, with Collaborator shown in place of an FSID.
If the invitation is declined, the invited user is not shown as a creator. The original creator can cancel a pending invitation or remove an accepted collaborator later. An accepted collaborator can also leave the collaboration themselves from the website.
How collaboration star credit works
Collaboration star credit is deliberately reduced to help prevent star abuse. For every complete group of 3 stars of a color that the Flipnote receives from other users, 1 star of that color counts toward the collaborator's creator statistics and ranking. Incomplete groups of three do not add collaboration credit.
Stars added by the collaborator themselves do not count toward this shared credit. After the collaboration is accepted, the collaborator also cannot add more stars to that Flipnote. The stars on the Flipnote itself are not reduced or removed; collaboration credit is an additional calculation used for the collaborator's creator statistics.
Without a reduced rate, two creators could use a collaboration to multiply ranking credit from the same star activity. The 3-to-1 rule lets both creators receive recognition while limiting that incentive.
Managing a collaboration
The original creator remains in control of the Flipnote and can remove the collaborator from the Flipnote page. The collaborator can use Leave Collaboration on the same page to remove themselves. Once the collaboration is removed, the second creator is no longer displayed and collaboration star credit no longer applies.
