Uploading a Flipnote to RexiMemo now starts on the website. You prepare the title and publishing settings first, then attach the actual Flipnote either from RexiMemo Flipnote Editor or from the Creator's Room on your Primary Console.
If you made the Flipnote in RexiMemo Flipnote Editor, use Prepare for Upload in the editor. If the Flipnote is already on your DSi/3DS, use the normal Upload a Flipnote page and send it from your Creator's Room.
Before you upload
Make sure you are signed in to RexiMemo. You do not need a DSi or a linked console to create and upload a Flipnote with the web editor. If you have never linked a console, RexiMemo automatically gives your account an RxFSID to identify Flipnotes you make there.
If you are sending a Flipnote from your DSi/3DS instead, link it as your Primary Console first. Check this in Settings → Consoles. The DSi upload page will tell you if a Primary Console is still needed.
Method 1: Upload from RexiMemo Flipnote Editor
This is the easiest method for a Flipnote you created or edited in the browser.
- Open Flipnote Editor and create or open your Flipnote.
- Open tab 5, File & Options.
- Choose Upload to RexiMemo, then use Prepare for Upload.
- The editor encodes the project into a signed PPM and sends it to your RexiMemo upload draft.
- You will be taken to the Upload a Flipnote page with the Flipnote already attached.
- Review the preview, add or change the title and description, choose your publishing options, then select Publish Flipnote.
You do not need to use the DSi waiting window when the Flipnote has already been prepared by the web editor.
HD Music on editor-made Flipnotes
If the Flipnote's Music track came from a local MP3 or WAV imported into Flipnote Editor, RexiMemo can also keep the original higher-quality audio as a separate web companion to the PPM.
The PPM still contains its normal Flipnote-compatible audio, so the downloaded file continues to work independently on a DSi. On the RexiMemo website, supported Flipnotes can use the higher-quality Music track instead. Viewers can switch back to the original PPM audio at any time.
See HD Music on RexiMemo for more information.
Method 2: Upload from Flipnote Studio on your DSi/3DS
For a Flipnote that already exists in the original Flipnote Studio, RexiMemo uses a short waiting window so the website knows which Flipnote you are trying to publish.
1. Prepare the upload on the website
- Open Upload a Flipnote.
- Enter a Title. You can also add a description and choose your Channel and other publishing options.
- Select Save details.
After the details have been saved, the preview area will show a button labeled Start waiting for DSi upload.
2. Start the three-minute waiting window
- Select Start waiting for DSi upload.
- Keep the RexiMemo upload page open while the countdown is running.
- On your Primary Console, connect to RexiMemo in Flipnote Studio.
- Open your own Creator's Room.
- While the waiting window is active, the Post button will appear in your Creator's Room.
- Tap Post and choose the Flipnote you want to upload.
The next normal Flipnote sent from that Creator's Room is captured into your browser upload instead of being published immediately. Login mini Flipnotes, Flipnote comments and memo comments do not count as the upload.
Leaving or closing the page stops the waiting mode. If the three-minute timer runs out, nothing is lost: return to the upload page and start waiting again.
3. Review the captured Flipnote
When RexiMemo receives the Flipnote, the upload page refreshes and shows a playable preview. Check that you sent the correct Flipnote and review the details before publishing.
If you want to make changes to the animation first, the captured Flipnote can also be opened in Flipnote Editor using the Edit Flipnote option shown with the preview.
4. Publish it
When everything looks right, select Publish Flipnote. The Flipnote is not publicly posted from the DSi step alone: the final publish action happens on the website after you have reviewed it.
Choosing your upload settings
Title and description
A title is required and can be up to 80 characters. The description is optional and can be up to 500 characters.
Channel
Choose the Channel where the Flipnote belongs, or use No Channel if you do not want to place it in one.
Publicity
- Public — the normal option. The Flipnote can appear in RexiMemo's public areas.
- Unlisted — the Flipnote is available to anyone with its link, but is not listed normally. You can also choose whether its DSi jump code is available.
- Private — only you can access the Flipnote. Private Flipnotes cannot be scheduled as Premieres.
Premieres
You can enable Set as a Premiere and choose a future date and time. The upload page uses your browser's local timezone. When a Premiere is scheduled, publishing creates the upcoming Premiere rather than releasing the Flipnote immediately.
You can view your scheduled uploads from Upcoming premieres.
Collaboration
If another RexiMemo user helped create the Flipnote, you can enter their username in the Collaboration section. The invitation is sent after the Flipnote is published and the other user must accept it before the collaboration is confirmed.
Music details
If Music fields are available on your account, you can enter a track title and artist. Leaving them blank allows RexiMemo's supported music-detection features to fill them automatically after upload, and you can correct the result later from the Flipnote page.
Common problems
The Post button is missing from my Creator's Room
Check that:
- you already saved the upload details on the website;
- Start waiting for DSi upload is active and the timer is still running;
- the upload page is still open;
- you are using the console linked as your Primary Console;
- you opened your own Creator's Room, not somebody else's.
The waiting timer expired
Start waiting again. You do not need to re-enter all of the upload details.
Why did my DSi upload not publish immediately?
That is intentional. During the waiting window RexiMemo captures the Flipnote into the web upload page first, giving you a chance to preview it, choose its visibility and other options, and then publish it yourself.
RexiMemo says the Flipnote already exists
RexiMemo will not create a second copy of the same Flipnote. Choose a different Flipnote or use the copy that is already on RexiMemo.
Can I upload any .PPM file directly from my computer?
The standard upload page does not provide a general file picker for arbitrary PPM files. Normal uploads are attached through your DSi/3DS Creator's Room or prepared by RexiMemo's own Flipnote Editor and supported creation tools.
I imported MP3/WAV Music in Flipnote Editor. Will the DSi still have sound?
Yes. The exported PPM still contains normal Flipnote audio for DSi and standalone PPM playback. The separate HD Music copy is only an additional higher-quality option for RexiMemo's browser player.
After publishing
Once the upload is published, RexiMemo takes you to the finished Flipnote. From there you can watch it, share its link and use the normal creator controls available for your own Flipnotes.
If you scheduled a Premiere or invited a collaborator, those settings continue to be managed separately after the upload has been created.
