If your Discord account is linked to RexiMemo, you can optionally have RexiMemo notifications delivered through Discord as well as through RexiMemo itself. This is disabled by default and only starts after you turn it on.
Discord delivery is an extra copy of the notification. Turning it on does not remove notifications from RexiMemo, and turning it off does not affect your RexiMemo notification history.
Before you enable Discord notifications
Your Discord identity must already be linked to your RexiMemo account. Open Settings → Connections to see the linked Discord profile. RexiMemo shows the Discord profile picture, display name, @username, Discord User ID, and the RexiMemo username the connection belongs to.
If Discord is not linked yet, follow Our Discord Bot to connect the correct Discord account first.
Turning Discord notifications on from the website
- Sign in to RexiMemo and open Settings → Connections.
- Find the linked Discord account card.
- Turn on Notifications via Discord.
- RexiMemo creates or reuses your private notifications channel in the official RexiMemo Discord server.
The channel is named using your current RexiMemo username, for example yourname-notifications. If a matching channel already exists in the notifications category, RexiMemo reuses it rather than creating a duplicate.
Who can see the notification channel?
RexiMemo configures the channel so normal server members cannot open it. Access is explicitly given to the Discord account linked to your RexiMemo account and the RexiMemo bot, which needs access so it can send the messages.
Discord users with server-wide permissions such as Administrator may inherently be able to bypass ordinary channel permission overwrites. Apart from Discord's own permission model, RexiMemo does not intentionally expose your personal notification channel to other members.
What happens when the channel is first created?
The RexiMemo bot mentions your linked Discord account and posts a short welcome message explaining that the channel is where optional RexiMemo notifications will be delivered. This makes it clear which account the channel belongs to and confirms that notification delivery has been enabled.
What does a Discord notification look like?
When RexiMemo creates a notification for your account, the Discord bot can mirror it into your private channel. The message @mentions your linked Discord account, includes the notification text, and can include a link back to the corresponding RexiMemo notification or page when one is available.
Discord delivery follows the notification that RexiMemo generated; it does not give Discord access to your RexiMemo password, session, passkeys or API keys.
Using the Discord bot to change the setting
You can manage the same preference from the official RexiMemo Discord server with these commands:
.rexi notifications on— enables Discord notification delivery and prepares your private channel..rexi notifications off— stops future Discord notification copies..rexi notifications status— shows whether Discord notifications are currently enabled for your linked RexiMemo account.
The website toggle and bot commands control the same account setting. Changing it in one place is reflected in the other.
What happens when I turn notifications off?
Turning the setting off stops RexiMemo from sending new notification copies to Discord. The private channel is not automatically deleted, so it can be reused safely if you enable notifications again later.
Messages that Discord already received remain subject to Discord's normal message and channel behavior. Turning the setting off does not retroactively erase old Discord messages or RexiMemo notifications.
What if I change my RexiMemo username?
RexiMemo keeps track of the notification channel attached to the Discord connection. When the channel is prepared again, RexiMemo can rename the existing channel to match your current RexiMemo username instead of creating a second personal notification channel.
What if the bot cannot create or use the channel?
If enabling notifications fails, first check that the Discord account shown in Settings → Connections is still the correct linked account and that you are still in the official RexiMemo Discord server. You can then try the toggle again or use .rexi notifications status to check the saved setting.
If the problem continues, use Contacting RexiMemo support and include your RexiMemo username, Discord username, and the exact error shown. Do not post passwords, session cookies, passkey material or other account secrets.
Privacy
Discord notification delivery is optional and off by default. Enabling it means notification text that RexiMemo would normally show to your account is also sent through Discord to the private notification channel associated with your linked Discord identity. Discord is a separate third-party service with its own terms and privacy practices.
